We had a great time visiting Kenneth Bull, Head of Workplace Digitalization at DNB last month, when we were implementing our smart parking solution at DNB. Their reception team has significantly reduced their parking-related administrative workload and employees no longer need physical tags or access cards to open the garage barrier.
“It all started with a need for greater parking efficiency. We already had a solution in place that allowed employees to book lockers—so naturally, we asked ourselves: if we can book lockers, why not parking?” says Kenneth Bull.
To top it off, DNB introduced a quota system, enabling the company to fairly allocate parking spaces during working hours. Outside of office hours and on weekends, employees can park for free. Booking is now fully self-service—no more calls, emails, or trips to the reception desk for keys or access.
With Awaio’s Access solution, the garage barrier can be opened from over 30 meters away via Bluetooth, allowing users to stay in their cars and avoid queues—eliminating traffic buildup at the entrance.
This is a great example of how innovation and creative thinking don’t always mean inventing something entirely new. Often, it’s about recognizing the potential within the systems you already have—and daring to ask, “What else can we do with this?” In this case, success was also made possible through strong collaboration between the client and the supplier, turning a simple idea into a practical, value-adding solution.
